How to choose the right fishing flies?

When picking fishing flies, think about the season, water level and clarity, as well as the main food source of your target fish.

In clear, low water conditions, subtle and natural-coloured flies usually work best, while in higher or coloured water a slightly bolder profile or brighter trigger point can make a big difference.

Use dry flies when fish are visibly rising, switch to nymphs and wets when you suspect they’re feeding deeper, and turn to streamers when you’re hunting for bigger, aggressive fish.
